Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia

The Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Georgians with epilepsy/seizure disorders. Based in Atlanta, the Foundation focuses on: educating the professional and general community about epilepsy through annual symposiums and programs held throughout the state; providing outreach through a statewide network of support groups; and assisting in quality of life issues through specialty camps for children/adults and medical referrals.

During the 2005-2006 fiscal year the Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia provided

  • 172 educational in-services reaching 7,349 people in 62 counties
  • Information and referral to 4,223 people
  • Summer camp scholarships for 49 children and adults
  • Emergency Medication Fund assistance for 40 persons
  • BRFSS health survey information for a third year
  • 17 Support Groups for both children and adiults
  • Advocacy services for more than 70 persons
  • Symposium/Seminars in several areas of the state.
  • Certification for 77 school nurses in the Managing Your Students With Seizure Disorders program
  • Monthly Orientation Programs for parents of newly diagnosed children in conjunction with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
